March 12, 2009
McKinstry also was the 2002 Member of the Year

Dave McKinstry, vice president of business development and special projects for Colfax/IMO-Warren Pumps, has been awarded the Hydraulic Institute (HI) Lifetime Achievement Award. This award was presented to McKinstry at the 92nd HI Annual Meeting recently held in Marco Island, Fla.

McKinstry, who was also the 2002 HI Member of the Year, was recognized for his lifetime of contributions to the Hydraulic Institute and for his technical involvement and leadership with HI. His efforts participating on HI committees in volunteer leadership roles have made a significant impact within the institute and the pump industry.

McKinstry has served as chairman of the ISO/TC 115 SC-3 since February 2000, which represents the U.S. pump industry through the Hydraulic Institute before ISO/TC 115. He also serves as group vice chairman to ISO/TC 115. McKinstry also was the chairman for the new Positive Displacement Pumps e-Learning project.

In past years, he has served on numerous committees including Standards, Technical Affairs, Steering Committee and Technical Business Planning & Marketing, as well as the HI and Pump Systems Matter (PSM) board of directors.

He authored the new Standards Companion document, which is used in leadership training for HI technical committee officers and members. For many years, he served as the standards voting representative for the Rotary Pump Section for his company and is actively involved in standards-writing.

“Dave is an international ambassador for HI, working with Europump and ISO,” said Robert Asdal, executive director of HI. “He is widely regarded and respected for his domestic and international knowledge of pump companies, the pump industry and their associated standards. He bridges the gap between standards development, technical/business strategy and executive leadership.”

Additionally, at the HI Annual Meeting, McKinstry was re-elected to serve as HI’s vice president of technical affairs until February 2010.
