MACTEC Names Alaska Office Manager

Sean Thomas promoted to Anchorage-based leadership role

Sean P. Thomas, RES (registered environmental scientist), has been appointed Alaska office manager. J. Allen Kibler, Jr., president of MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, made the announcement. Thomas is based in the firm’s Anchorage, Alaska, office.

Thomas has been with MACTEC since 2007. Prior to serving as office manager, Thomas was the Alaska Environmental Planning and Permitting business unit leader and operations manager.

“Sean brings to his new position a proven project management track record,” Kibler said. “His leadership skills have also enabled him to coordinate complex projects and numerous permitting efforts with a wide variety of stakeholders, including state and federal regulatory agency officials and village representatives throughout Alaska.”

Thomas has recently diversified MACTEC’s services and bolstered its Alaska capabilities through numerous strategic hires and partnerships. MACTEC’s Alaska operation has provided civil, geotechnical, water/wastewater, solid waste and environmental engineering services, coupled with geosciences, environmental permitting, planning and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) services at more than 200 locations statewide to local, state, federal and private clients.

In addition to setting the tone and vision for MACTEC’s Alaska operations, Thomas is a project manager and principal scientist and is directly responsible for the on-time quality delivery of multiple projects with revenues exceeding $3 million.

Thomas is a registered environmental scientist, National Association of Environmental Professionals, and a registered environmental professional, National Registry of Environmental Professionals. He is a member of the Alaska Resource Development Council; Anchorage Chamber of Commerce; National Association of Environmental Professionals; American Society of Civil Engineers; and the Society of American Military Engineers.
