American Water Awarded Contract for Fort Polk

Contract award estimated at $348 million over a 50-year period

American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced that its Military Services Group has been awarded a contract for ownership, operation and maintenance of the water and the wastewater systems at Fort Polk Army Installation in Louisiana. According to the agreement, the award of this contract is estimated at approximately $348 million over a 50-year period and is also subject to price redetermination.

"American Water is extremely pleased to be awarded this contract and we look forward to joining the Army community at Fort Polk," said Don Correll, president and CEO of American Water. "We are committed to providing our soldiers and their families with reliable, high-quality water and wastewater services for the next five decades and beyond."

American Water's Military Services Group, which is reported as part of American Water's Contract Operations Group, currently operates and maintains the water or wastewater networks at Fort A.P. Hill, Va.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Sill, Okla.; Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; and Fort Rucker, Ala. American Water also recently announced that it was awarded the water and wastewater contract for Fort Hood, Texas.

"Our Military Services Group's growing portfolio clearly demonstrates our commitment to providing military bases all over the country with solutions to best manage their systems and provide reliable water and wastewater services," said Jimmy Sheridan, vice president of the Military Services Group.

Fort Polk is the location of the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC). The basic mission of the JRTC is to train light infantry forces, Special Forces, Army Rangers and units from other branches of the American Armed Forces.
