Winner to be announced during Aquatech Amsterdam 2008 opening ceremony

The most innovative products currently on the market will come under the spotlight at Aquatech Amsterdam 2008, the world’s leading trade exhibition on process, drinking and wastewater.

Amsterdam RAI, organizer of the trade show, has announced that for the first time the Aquatech Innovation Award competition is open to everyone, exhibitors and non-exhibitors alike. The award offers the winner ample attention in the global trade press media. Entries need to be registered before May 10, 2008. The winner will be announced during the opening ceremony of Aquatech Amsterdam 2008 on Sept. 29.

The award is intended for the most innovative product, service or solution in the industry. Research and development are crucial for the future of any business. However, the organizers of the award point out that innovation is not only crucial for the water industry, but for the entire world.

“The importance of water technology for the complex problems of our world are eminent,” said Cees Buisman (Wetsus), chairman of the Jury of the Award. “The availability of clean water for everyone in the world is a key element to the economic, social and physical wellbeing of mankind. The number of people challenged with water scarcity will increase enormously the coming years. Unlike oil, mankind has no alternative for water. Therefore, water is a subject that more than any other requires constant advances in the development of knowledge and technology. The challenge is to ensure that our ability to implement keeps pace with these advances. The Innovation Award encourages the companies participating in Aquatech Amsterdam to continue to be creative in this respect.”

Judgement criteria
The entries will be judged by an independent jury of international specialists in four categories (Water Treatment, Transport & Storage, Process Control Technology & Process Automation and Point of Use). Three products/services per category will be nominated. One nominee will be chosen from each category as the category winner and receive an official Aquatech Innovation Award certificate. The overall winner is chosen from these four category winners. The product or service will be judged on the following criteria:
• Originality (50%);
• Practicality (technical, economical, feasibility, 25%); and
