American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, has announced that its Military Services Group has been awarded a contract for ownership, operation and maintenance of the water distribution system and wastewater collection system at Fort Hood Army Installation, Texas. According to the agreement, the award of this contract is estimated at approximately $329 million over a 50-year period and is also subject to price re-determination.
"We are extremely pleased to be awarded this contract and are committed to delivering excellent service that Fort Hood can depend upon,” said Don Correll, president and CEO of American Water. “We have partnered with the federal government to meet the Army's goal to find a viable solution for utility management that lets it focus on its core mission to protect and defend our country.”
American Water's Military Services Group, which is reported as part of American Water’s Contract Operations Group, currently operates and maintains the water and/or wastewater networks at Fort A.P. Hill, Va.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Sill, Okla.; Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; and Fort Rucker, Ala.

The Military Services Group of American Water provides water and wastewater services to military installations across the country as part of the federal government’s Utility Privatization Program.
