The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is accepting abstracts for its Water Security Congress through Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. The 2009 Water Security Congress will be held April 8 to 10 in Washington, D.C.
AWWA solicits abstracts to cover all aspects of water security including, but not limited to, Security and Emergency Response (SER), Physical and Cyber Security (PCS) and Contamination Warning Systems (CWS).
Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts even if the topics do not fall within these categories, but are pertinent to the water and wastewater sectors. Any special topics appropriate for a full or half-day Wednesday workshop are also encouraged. Details on submitting abstracts and workshop/session requests are available at www.awwa.org/conferences/congress.
AWWA launched the Water Security Congress in 2003 to address urgent security needs for water utilities after 9/11. More than 400 professionals attended the first Congress. Each year, the Congress has expanded to encompass new initiatives in water security management. Aside from technical sessions and the exhibition, there are ample opportunities for water industry professionals to network, discuss best practices and share ideas about how to better protect public health.
