River Restoration Committee Elects New Chair

David T. Williams, national director of water resources for PBS&J, will take over as chair

David T. Williams, PhD, P.E., PH, DWRE, CFM, national technical director of water resources for PBS&J, has been elected chair of the River Restoration Committee of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI), which is part of the American Society of Civil Engineering.

The River Restoration Committee is a standing EWRI committee that meets annually, typically at the Annual World Water & Environmental Congress, for engineers and scientists engaged in the practice of river restoration/rehabilitation to network, collaborate and advance the science and practice of river restoration through collegial relationships, presentations at conferences and writing papers.

In addition to his involvement with the American Institute of Hydrology (AIH), where he is the chair of the Board of Registration, Williams has served as chair of the Federal Interagency Technical Committee on Sedimentation, two-time president of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) in addition to nine years on the board, and chair of numerous professional society committees.

Williams earned a PhD in civil engineering from Colorado State University, and both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of California at Davis. He is also a registered engineer in the states of California, Arizona, Texas, Mississippi, Oregon, Hawaii and Washington State, and a certified professional in erosion and sediment control (CPESC).
