CDM has received a design-build contract from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (Marianas) to repair and upgrade the Apra Harbor wastewater treatment plant at the U.S. Naval Base on the island of Guam.
As part of an effort to restore the plant to its original operational capacity of 4.3 million gal per day (mgd), CDM will construct a new 9-mgd influent pump station, install effluent filtration and ultraviolet disinfection systems and upgrade the sludge pump station to include primary and secondary clarifier systems.
In addition, CDM will upgrade existing bio-towers and odor control systems and install new effluent and plant water pumping stations. The contract has a value of $36 million; work is expected to be complete by May 2010.
