A reverse osmosis (RO) system from Severn Trent Services has been selected by Empresa Nacional de Energia S.A. (Endesa Chile), Chile’s largest electricity producer, for use at a new thermal power plant in San Isidro, Chile, located in the central region of the country. The system, a three-module UAT RO filtration system combined with deionization and carbonate systems, is used to provide for effective filtration of process water at the plant and has a filtration capacity of 1,290,000 gal per day. The new plant is currently in its start-up phase.
Severn Trent Services was represented in the sale by Pro Equipos Ltda., based in Santiago, Chile.
UAT RO systems operate by passing water across an ultra-thin membrane at high pressure. The process can effectively remove more than 97% of all feedwater contaminants, including ionic, organic and particulate contamination.
