Severn Trent Services Will Showcase New Technologies at IFAT 08

April 3, 2008
New systems and technologies will be on display at the tradeshow, May 5 to 9 in Munich

Severn Trent Services will highlight its latest technological innovations for water treatment at IFAT 2008 – the 15th International Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Refuse and Recycling. The exhibition is being held in Munich May 5 to 9. The company’s booth will be in hall A2 at stand 504.

Since 1988, Severn Trent Services has installed more than 3,500 ClorTec onsite sodium hypochlorite generating systems worldwide. The company has developed a cost-effective system for the onsite production of sodium hypochlorite for use in swimming pools, cooling towers and food and drink applications. The ClorTec SCT mini onsite sodium hypochlorite generating system offers a safe alternative to the transportation of hazardous chemicals.

Visitors can also see the company’s new MicroDynamics – Microwave UV disinfection solution. The electrodeless design has a three-year bulb life guarantee. In addition, there is no detrimental effect to the bulb caused by it being switched on and off -- a feature not possible with systems containing electrodes.

For clean water filtration projects, information on TETRA LP Block, a dual-parallel lateral underdrain filter floor for RGF and GAC filters, will also be available. Severn Trent Services recently has been awarded several contracts to supply TETRA LP Blocks for pre-treatment at desalination plants throughout Europe. Technical consultants will be available at the show to discuss the technology’s many applications.

Visitors can also gather information on TETRA tertiary wastewater filtration solutions.

The TETRA DeepBed Filter is a down-flow sand filter for the filtration of effluent from municipal wastewater treatment plants. The technology offers process flexibility and high efficiency backwash for the removal of biological oxygen demand (BOD) and suspended solids.

The TETRA NSAF is a submerged aerated media process for the tertiary removal of ammonia (nitrification) from municipal and industrial wastewaters. The process uses proven TETRA T-Block filter floors and blast furnace slag media. The TETRA (Submerged Aerated Filter) SAF is also available for BOD or BOD and ammonia removal.

The Jet Aeration Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) available from Severn Trent Services is an aeration process for the complete treatment of sewage and industrial wastewaters. A Jet Aeration SBR plant can remove BOD, ammonia and suspended solids in a single tank.
