Registration Open for AMTA Technology Transfer Workshop

Registration is open for the AMTA Technology Transfer Workshop, taking place May 7-8, 2008, in Charleston, S.C.

The workshop is for water utilities and municipalities concerned with providing a safe, reliable and cost-effective water supply for their communities; agencies, water treatment operators, supervisors, superintendents, managers, planners and engineers; consultants and manufacturers interested in the latest membrane treatment advances and applications; and university professors and students interested in ongoing research and development of membrane technologies.

The workshop will focus on membrane applications and needs for the Southeast. Attendees will learn about MF/UF basics, MBR basics, RO basics, drinking water issues in South Carolina, withdrawal permits and general permitting, arsenic and boron regulations and controls, MF/UF application financing, innovative MBR applications and local regulations, zero liquid discharge, seawater application and design considerations, concentrate disposal challenges and new membrane technologies and advancements. The workshop will feature the Mt. Pleasant RO plant with an overview of the facility followed by a facility tour. The workshop will also highlight several case histories on the Santee Cooper Lake Marion UF plant, Fripp Island, South Carolina’s first MBR plant, and the newly planned Hilton Head RO plant.
