Vivendi Water Sells Metcalf & Eddy to AeCOM

Dec. 28, 2000
Andy Seidel, President and Chief Operating Officer of Vivendi Water North America explained that the sale was consistent with his company's long-term strategy of partnering with a variety of firms throughout the consulting engineering community. "Metcalf & Eddy is an outstanding firm with a long and proud history of accomplishments in the field of water and wastewater design," Seidel said. "Literally, they wrote the book on the subject." Metcalf & Eddy first won national recognition early in the 1900s, when it pioneered what would become "environmental engineering" through its water and wastewater work. Today, the firm is widely diversified in solid and hazardous waste management, remediation, environmental quality, pollution prevention, air pollution control, institutional strengthening, water and wastewater management. "We are very pleased to have Metcalf & Eddy join the AeCOM family of companies," said Richard Newman, Chairman of the Board of AeCOM. "Their impeccable reputation in water and wastewater treatment fills out our plan to have a firm in every line of infrastructure development. We are looking forward to the opportunity to cross-market Metcalf & Eddy's capabilities to all of AeCOM's offices in the U.S. and abroad." AeCOM is the holding company for nine engineering and architectural firms that participate in the transportation, environmental, public facilities and commercial markets, worldwide. Total professional staff is about 13,000. Vivendi Water is the leading global provider of commercial, industrial, municipal and residential water and wastewater treatment systems, products and services, with operations in over 100 countries.
