Kinetico Reduces MTBE in Drinking Water

Dec. 28, 2000
Kinetico Incorporated, a manufacturer of water treatment systems, announced the certification of two of its drinking water products by NSF International for the reduction of MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether), a gasoline additive that’s frequenting the news for the contamination of water sources nationwide. MTBE was introduced to reduce air pollution; however, it is contaminating water supplies.

The Kinetico Drinking Water System Plus VX reverse osmosis (RO) system is available through Kinetico's nationwide dealer network, as well as nearly 80 other countries. The RO system, which recently received a "Best Buy" rating from Consumers Digest, as well as the Seal-of-Approval from the Handyman Club of America, features a five-stage protection process that effectively reduces many contaminants including MTBE, lead, Cryptosporidium, mercury, nitrates, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chlorine, and unpleasant tastes and odors.

The Model 7500 Drinking Water Filter with MACguard™ is available in an under-the-sink design. Despite its compact size, which allows it to be installed virtually anywhere inside the home where drinking water is drawn, it also has been certified by NSF for the reduction of MTBE, lead, VOCs, Cryptosporidium, chlorine, and unpleasant tastes and odors that may be in a home's water.
