Rohm and Haas to Sell European Salt Business

Rohm and Haas Co. has reached an agreement to sell its European Salt business, Salins-Europe, to a consortium led by Union d’Etudes et d’Investissements SA for $270 million. The transaction is expected to be completed before October 15, 2000, subject to review and approval by appropriate authorities. Rohm and Haas will continue to operate the U.S. and Canadian Salt businesses.
