Black & Veatch, a global engineering, consulting and construction company, announced today that the company has opened a new office in Lawrence, Kan., at 1008 New Hampshire, Suite 300.
Building upon a relationship that began in 1917 when Black & Veatch co-founder N.T. Veatch designed the original Kansas River Water Treatment Facilities for the City, the company is establishing a base of operation for the Wakarusa Water Reclamation Facility project as well as other current and future work.
Dan McCarthy, President and CEO of Black & Veatch’s global water business, stated that, “The new office will further enable collaboration and communication among City staff and the local design and construction team not only for existing projects, but also for the new $70 million design-build Wakarusa Water Reclamation Facility, the largest capital improvement project the city has ever undertaken.”
Black & Veatch also has a long-standing relationship with the University of Kansas (KU) located in Lawrence, and currently employs more than 400 KU graduates as part of the company’s integrated global workforce doing business in 100 countries on six continents.
“Our expansion into Lawrence further demonstrates our commitment to the City, and also highlights additional ways that Black & Veatch helps add to the economic benefits of the region,” added McCarthy.
