Black & Veatch Professional Appointed to Hong Kong Commission on Strategic Development

July 13, 2007

Ping-Kuen Lee, an associate director of Black & Veatch’s global water business in Hong Kong, has been appointed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) chief executive, Donald Tsang, to a position with the Commission on Strategic Development.

Black & Veatch has been active in the Hong Kong water market since 1930. Lee will hold his position as a non-official member for a period of two years starting July 1, 2007.

The main objective of the Commission is to advise the chief executive on Hong Kong’s long-term development needs and goals with particular reference to the direction and strategy of social, economic and political developments for Hong Kong. Last year Lee was appointed as a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit (CPU) of the Hong Kong SAR, a position he served until December 2006.

“This appointment gives Ping-Kuen the opportunity to take the policy and research that he is doing with the CPU to the next stage,” said Alan Man, client services director for the Black & Veatch water business in Hong Kong and the North Asia Region. “It’s an honor to have a Black & Veatch professional appointed to this Commission, which represents a broad cross section of the community and offers the opportunity to help shape the future strategy and direction of Hong Kong.”

Lee joined Black & Veatch in 1984 after graduating with an engineering degree from Hong Kong Polytechnic. He earned his master’s of science in Engineering in 1995 from the University of Hong Kong
