California Company Takes on New Name

Penta Water Company, formerly Bio-Hydration Research Labs, of Carlsbad, Calif., has changed its name and added new leadership.

The new name is a reflection of the company’s brand of ultra-purified bottled water, found in natural foods stores such as Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Jimbo’s, Henry’s and others.

With new CEO Dennis O’Brien at the helm, Penta aims to evolve its brand positioning and marketing strategies with the intent of accelerating growth in the near future. O’Brien, former president and chief operating officer with ConAgra Foods, brings to Penta more than 20 years of experience in the packaged food and beverage industry and a successful record of building brands.

Penta is also enjoying significant investment of capital from investor David Perez, a San Diego-based energy entrepreneur, who was drawn to the company by interest in bringing potable water to the Third World.
