The Water Partnership Council (WPC), a Washington, DC-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable water quality in the United States, has appointed Walter Q. Howard to the post of president.
Howard will serve a one-year term as President of the WPC, succeeding Patrick Cairo, executive vice president, United Water. With over 20 years experience in the water and utility services industry, Howard's primary role at American Water is to develop, implement, and execute an integrated sales and business development strategy.
Comprising the country's leading providers of operational services for water and wastewater treatment, the WPC focuses on helping municipalities examine the option of entering into and managing public-private partnerships to receive maximum benefits for their communities and residents.
"Partnerships between municipalities and the private sector are an increasingly important strategy for dealing with the enormous challenges of replacing and upgrading the nation's water delivery systems," said Mr. Howard. "The WPC is instrumental in finding new solutions to these critical issues, aimed at meeting both environmental concerns and the needs of growing populations and industries."
