Degremont, S.A., a global water treatment specialist and subsidiary of SUEZ Environment, has appointed Shyam J. Bhan chief executive office - North America.

Bhan will head four providers and manufacturers of water and wastewater equipment in North America. The companies – which include Infilco Degremont Inc. and Ozonia North America in the United States, as well as Anderson Water Systems and Degremont Ltd. in Canada – were recently unified under the Degremont Technologies (SUEZ) banner.

“It is a very exciting time for Degremont Technologies,” said Bhan. “The new brand affords us the opportunity to offer a vast network of equipments and services to the municipal, industrial and leisure markets. The resulting synergy positions our entire organization to better serve clients, address challenges and take advantage of future growth opportunities, and I eagerly look forward to the challenge."

A 22-year veteran of the water industry, Bhan joined the Degremont Group 10 years ago, first as Managing Director of Degremont India, and most recently as Managing Director of Degremont UK. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Kashmir, India, an M.S. (Environmental Engineering) from the University of North Dakota, as well as an MBA from Syracuse University. Bhan will be based in New Jersey.

He succeeds former CEO Marc Hauchecorne, who has been appointed CEO for Degremont Technologies (SUEZ) in Europe and Asia.
