New Orleans Sewer and Water Board Partners With Sensus Metering Systems

May 1, 2007

New Orleans Sewer and Water Board (NOS&WB) and Sensus Metering Systems will partner in a test deployment for automatic water meter reading. Sensus’ FlexNet advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution will be used to read meters in the City of New Orleans, including some that have not been read since Hurricane Katrina.

“Our need for accurate meter data in this scarce labor market led us to test the Sensus FlexNet system,” said Jacqueline Shine, NOS&WB Revenue Administrator. “We require the financial benefits and operational efficiencies that this technologically advanced metering system will provide to our customers.” Under the purchase plan, NOS&WB will deploy 2,200 Sensus meters read by the FlexNet communications system and test their performance over the next 12 months.
