Wisconsin Mayor to Speak at AWWA Seminar in Chicago

Mayor Kevin Crawford of Manitowoc, Wis., will join executives from water utilities and other public officials to discuss asset management strategies for water infrastructure during the American Water Works Association (AWWA) seminar “Water Infrastructure at a Turning Point,” 8.30 a.m.-5 p.m. May 17 at the Inn of Chicago in Chicago.

Instructors Elisa Speranza and John Cromwell will cover issues from how to get started in asset management and how to create a working model for future spending to communicating with stakeholders and consumers about the infrastructure renewal challenge. Mayor Crawford will provide insight into the role of the public official in working with water utilities to communicate issues facing water infrastructure today and in the future.

Cromwell and Speranza co-authored the 2006 AWWA report Water Infrastructure at a Turning Point: The Road to Sustainable Asset Management. As a managing economist at Stratus Consulting, Cromwell has over 30 years of expertise in analyzing costs and benefits of water quality regulations and infrastructure renewal investments. CH2M HILL Vice President Speranza has practical experience in creating strategies to improve efficiency of management and communications plans for numerous water utilities across North America.
