To coincide with National Healthy Schools Day on April 30, the EPA reminds communities to get involved with schools to ensure facilities are not putting children at risk.
A new, free DVD, "What Your School or Child Care Facility Should Know About Lead in Drinking Water" and a new document, "Water Quality Funding Sources for Schools — A Resource for K-12 and Child Care Facilities," are both available from EPA.
These materials explain how schools and child care facilities can test for lead in drinking water; report results to parents, students, staff, and other interested parties; and fund actions to address environmental issues in their facilities.
EPA has also developed the HealthySeat program, dedicated to preventing or resolving environmental issues in schools.
