A Southern California storm caused accidents and left two people stranded in the Los Angeles River earlier this week, while a water main break in Newark, N.J., led to a boil alert.
The heaviest rains fell in San Diego County, where the National Weather Service issued a stream flood advisory.
According to The Desert Sun, the storm water brought rushing torrents to the Los Angeles River, leaving two people stranded on a section of the dry waterway. Fire crews had to use an inflatable boat to ferry the 50-year-old man and the 39-year-old woman to safety.
In Newark, N.J., weather lead to water main breaks in two parts of the city. According to the Newark Advocate, the Newark City Water Treatment Plant issued a boil order for 24 hours. Another boil alert for Glenmore Avenue and North 28th Street was issued last Sunday, but lifted on Monday.
Both breaks are reported as weather-related.
