Senate Passes Colorado Water Pollution Bill

The Senate unanimously passed a bill allowing some Colorado counties to enforce water pollution regulations.

According to The Coloradoan, the House Bill 1197 will allow Colorado counties to enforce storm water regulations set forth by the federal government that currently fall under the state’s authority.

The bill must now wait for House approval before it goes to Colorado’s Governor Bill Ritter.

The Coloradoan reports that the storm water quality regulations, according to the federal Environmental Protection Agency, include violations such as illicit discharges of dirt and sediment from construction sites or chemical discharges from companies and homes.
