Brisbane Announces $116 Million Wastewater Plant Upgrade
Lord Mayor Campbell Newman of Brisbane, Australia, has announced a $116 million upgrade of the city’s Oxley wastewater treatment plant. The plant will be used to provide recycled water to local industries.
ABC Online reports that the plant will be the first in Queensland to process biosolids and convert them into high-quality fertilizer.
The Tarong and Swanbank power stations will use the recycled water, which will aid in saving the area’s drinking water supply.
According to ABC Online, the upgrade should also reduce the amount of landfill and generate water for the western corridor recycling scheme.
