Madison, Ala., is set to receive a new water tank. Madison Water and Wastewater Board just recently approved a design and construction administration this week.
Board general manager Ricky Pounders told The Huntsville Times that the tank is necessary to help meet water demand and pressure issues for the western part of the city.
A contract of $24,500 was approved by the board for engineering design services with Krebs & Associates in Birmingham.
Last month the board voted in favor of spending $190,000 to purchase two acres for the tank site.
Pounders estimated that it should take 18 months to design and build the tank. The cost of the entire project is estimated at $3 million. The tank will have a concrete base and a steel water bowl that will hold 2m million gallons of water.
