Black & Veatch and Burns & McDonnell, both global engineering and consulting companies with headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., announced that the companies will jointly pursue upcoming program management opportunities within Kansas City’s Water Services Department.
The City of Kansas City, Mo., recently issued a Request for Qualifications to provide Extension of Staff Services for Water/Sewer Capital/Maintenance Projects. The city seeks to hire a company to provide experienced program management services to assist the Water Services Department in managing a complex set of capital projects associated with two $250 million bond initiatives previously approved by voters. Included in the scope is a broad range of capital and maintenance-related projects to improve service delivery, minimize flooding and open areas of the city to future development.
“This program will require the ability to develop cost effective and innovative solutions to address the complex challenges the city faces, and we believe that our design expertise positions us to effectively manage the program,” said Dan McCarthy, President & CEO of Black & Veatch’s global water business.
The partnering of Black & Veatch and Burns & McDonnell forms a hometown team with more than 200 combined years of service in Kansas City. The portfolios for the companies include program management services for the Kansas City International Airport’s Terminal Improvement Project, new downtown Sprint Arena, Capital Improvements Management Office, Truman Sports Complex Renovation Project, downtown entertainment district, Lake Lenexa storm water management and recreation project, as well as projects for the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Johnson County Wastewater and WaterOne.
