A truck carrying biosolids from a wastewater treatment plant in Chapel Hill, N.C., turned over on an interstate, spilling biosolids.
The truck was from OWASA’s Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant and was on the way to a farm when it turned over on an interstate ramp.
According to The News & Observer, approximately 500 gallons of biosolids spilled when the truck was turned upright. 6,000 gallons of biosolids from the truck were pumped into another OWASA tanker.
The driver was not injured in the accident.
The spill caused the ramp to be closed for about two hours.
The OWASA reported the spill to the state Division of Water Quality.
