Florida City Increases Storm Water Fee

Aug. 21, 2006

Satellite Beach, Fla., will raise the city’s storm water fee an additional $6 per year.

The City Council announced that the yearly individual storm water fee will be raised from $30 to $36.

According to Florida Today, for the past decade, fee has raised $180,000 each year, which provided money for the city to take on drainage projects in the range of $5 million. These projects include a $1.7 million baffle box installation and an exfiltration project.

The extra money will bring in $30,000 per year, which will be enough to hire someone to maintain the storm water system, or provide additional funds for more projects.
