Sunpower Receives China Shenhua Water Treatment Project

Aug. 1, 2006

Sunpower Group Ltd. of Singapore announced that its subsidiary Jiangsu Sunpower Technology Co. Ltd. has secured a contract from China Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Corp.

China Knowledge reports that the companies will work together to construct a salty wastewater treatment project in Inner Mongolia that will aim for zero liquid discharge. This is a recent development in water treatment.

Sunpower Technology’s Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Division will provide engineering design and materials, as well as services for project development. This is the second project that Shenhua has awarded to Sunpower. The last agreement was for a gas flare recovery last year.

The project is scheduled to be completed Aug. 30, 2007. The project will be completed next year, which means it is not expected to impact the group’s financial results for this year.
