Carter & Burgess Hires Gary Nuss to Lead Water Infrastructure Programs

Gary Nuss, P.E., has joined Carter & Burgess as a senior vice president and managing principal for Water Infrastructure Programs.

“Enhancing our efforts in the Water Infrastructure business falls directly in line with the current Carter & Burgess growth strategy,” said Ben Watts, Carter & Burgess president/CEO. “Gary Nuss has the vision to lead Carter & Burgess into this high growth market sector that mirrors our One Source, One FirmSM suite of services.”

Nuss comes to Carter & Burgess with 25 years of experience in all aspects of the water/wastewater field, including project engineer and management assignments in master plan studies, preliminary and final design, construction management, and startup for water reuse, water supply, irrigation, wastewater and storm water management systems around the country. Nuss has served as program director for basin-wide water supply and quality studies, and for regional water resources planning and policy development. During his career, he has also developed advanced wastewater treatment technologies using rapid infiltration/extraction techniques, and has served as general manager for the design-build-operate program for water, wastewater and storm water utilities in Stockton, Calif.

Nuss joins Carter & Burgess after 25 years with CH2M HILL. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Agricultural Engineering from Oregon State University. He is a licensed civil engineer in California and Nevada.
