The Jury of the International Aquatech Innovation Award (IAIA) announced that a record number of innovations have been entered this year. Amsterdam RAI, organizer of the competition, received 90 products from 81 companies. The award is for the most innovative product on show at Aquatech Amsterdam 2006, a trade exhibition on process, drinking and waste water.
The show takes place at Amsterdam RAI from September 26-29. The jury will announce the winner of the IAIA on September 25.
The number of entries submitted to the 5th edition of the IAIA competition was 60 percent higher than last year. Each entry is submitted for one of four categories. Three products or services per category will be short-listed, and then one will be chosen as the Category Winner. The overall Aquatech Innovation Award Winner 2006 will be chosen from the four category winners. The short listed products, to be announced by the Jury in August are divided among the following four categories: water treatment, transport & storage, process control & automation and point of use.
The jury assesses the products by reference to the balance and interaction between originality, practicality (technical, economical, feasibility) and sustainability (environment, security, energy and efficiency).
Frederik Molenschot is the designer of the new International Aquatech Innovation Award prize, which will be presented for the first time this year.
During Aquatech Amsterdam 2006 all the short listed products will be on display at the three AquaStages, located throughout the halls of the Europa complex of Amsterdam RAI.
