American Water to Showcase Service-Line Protection Programs

May 23, 2006

With a history of more than 100 years, American Water continues its strong tradition of public service and innovation by offering its new LineSaver Program exclusively for municipalities. In response to the overwhelming success of the company’s Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs, American Water introduces its LineSaver Program, designed to protect homeowners from unexpected service line repairs while generating revenue for the community with no additional investment or labor requirements.

Experts at American Water’s Homeowner Services Group will be on hand at the annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) annual conference, both in June, to educate mayors and water professionals about the benefits of partnering with American Water to bring LineSaver to their communities.

In most areas of the country, homeowners are unaware that they are personally responsible for the cost of maintaining and repairing water and sewer lines running from the street to their homes. LineSaver is a credible solution for service line repairs that are not the responsibility of the municipality’s water department, nor covered by homeowners’ insurance.

“By offering a completely customized program to municipalities, residents can know the security of service line protection, and communities can benefit from additional revenue generated from the program,” said Sharon Cameron, vice president of American Water’s Homeowner Services Group.

Since 2000, more than 400,000 customers have enrolled in American Water’s Service Line Protection Programs, and, according to a recent customer satisfaction survey, 94% of customers who received repairs are satisfied with the service.

AWWA conference attendees are welcome to attend a free workshop on June 13 to learn how to make LineSaver available in their communities. Or to learn more about American Water’s LineSaver Program, attendees can schedule a meeting with a LineSaver expert during the conference by contacting Amy Marks at 856-309-4854 or [email protected].
