May 8, 2006

PBS&J announced a merger with EIP Associates, a 100-person environmental services consulting firm headquartered in Sacramento, Calif. EIP will become the firm’s California Sciences and Planning Division.

Founded in 1968, EIP is a leading provider of environmental, urban planning, water resource planning and natural resources services in California and specializes in integrating science and planning to improve urban and natural communities. EIP currently has offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Pasadena.

“PBS&J continues to work toward expanding our presence in the West,” said PBS&J President Todd J. Kenner, P.E. “The decision to join with EIP was easy because of EIP’s compatible service offerings, excellent reputation and substantial experience throughout California.”

“We are excited about the growth opportunities for EIP with the PBS&J merger. Our values and professional reputations are quite similar, and together, we offer greatly enhanced capabilities to our clients,” said William S. Ziebron, president and CEO of EIP Associates. Ziebron now holds the title of senior vice president and district director for PBS&J. Brian D. Boxer, formerly senior vice president of EIP, will serve as vice president and California Sciences and Planning Division manager.

EIP is currently working with PBS&J on a floodplain-mapping project for the California Department of Water Resources (DWR). Other notable EIP projects have included environmental impact reports (EIR) for the Rose Bowl Stadium renovation project, the San Francisco Giants Ball Park and the newly reopened DeYoung Museum in San Francisco. The firm has also completed or is currently preparing general plan updates for the city of Sacramento, the city of Newport Beach and the Merced County University Community Plan. EIP’s water resources projects include preparing the Monterey Plus EIR for DWR, and providing water quality monitoring and fish aquatic habitat studies for the Tule River.
