IBWA Welcomes New Director of Science and Research

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) announced that Dr. Markus Lipp has joined the association as director of science and research. His duties include monitoring publications and electronic information resources for water research activities in government, industry and academia; managing the work of the association’s science and research consultants and advisors; and conducting and managing projects initiated by the IBWA Technical Committee.

Dr. Lipp comes to IBWA after providing consulting services to government and nonprofit organizations in the food and animal feed industries. Prior to that, he worked with the Monsanto Co. in St. Louis, Mo., managing technical outreach, education and training for agricultural biotech products for the U.S., European Union, Codex Alimentarius Commission and the International Standards Organization.

Additionally, Lipp’s past experiences include working at Unilever Research as a program manager for portfolio chemical contaminants in food, and as a scientist at the European Commission Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy, with responsibilities that included managing projects aimed at improving food quality and safety. He received his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry and has completed postgraduate courses in technology.
