VISION Global Solutions to Provide Software-Based Water Billing System for Zimbabwe

March 28, 2006

VISION Global Solutions, a developer and global provider of fully integrated business management software solutions, announced it has been selected by the National Water Authority of Zimbabwe to develop a comprehensive and standardized water billing system for the country.

The Water Authority has accepted VISION's proposed program, and the parties are currently engaged in finalizing a formal procurement contract so VISION can begin work. The project is projected to generate nearly $450,000 in revenue for VISION over the next four months.

VISION intends to customize its standard modules for financial management and accounting to meet a specific set of requirements provided by the National Water Authority and will remain onsite to ensure the successful implementation of its solution and provide practical training to Water Authority staff.

Zimbabwe has been commended for effectively managing its water resources and ensuring the equitable access and efficient use of water in the country, despite such challenges as water shortages and a rising debt owed to the Authority by Zimbabwe's various municipalities. The organization is directing its efforts towards consensus building, stakeholder satisfaction and infrastructural development. The introduction of a modern billing system will enhance and facilitate many of these initiatives.

VISION maintains a base of 15 local software engineers in key East African markets to service the region's growing software needs. The company already counts Zimbabwe's Postal Authority and National Social Security Authority among its growing client base.

“Zimbabwe and various other East African governments are in dire need of a standardized, effective water billing system to remedy and avoid many of the problems they have encountered over the past decade,” said VISION CEO Jean-Paul Ouellette. “We have built a strong relationship with the government of Zimbabwe and look to duplicate these achievements across the region, where we know government agencies are searching for solutions such as the ones we are now successfully implementing.”

VISION intends to leverage a successful installation of its new water billing system in Zimbabwe to generate new sales and service contracts throughout the region.

Created in 1997 under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Resources and Water Development, Zimbabwe's National Water Authority is a statutory corporation charged with the operational aspects of the Department of Water Development as well as management of the national water resources.
