Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. awarded Hydroxyl Systems, Inc. a $6 million contract for the turnkey supply of two Hydroxyl CleanSea advanced wastewater purification systems onboard Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises vessels.
Under the contract, Hydroxyl Systems begins simultaneous installation of the two CleanSea systems in January with scheduled completion in June 2006. The CleanSea wastewater treatment systems will effectively process all black water and grey water generated aboard the 2,500 passenger Radiance of the Seas and 2,000 passenger Celebrity Summit cruise vessels. As a result of implementing Hydroxyl’s technology, Royal Caribbean will reliably exceed stringent Alaska state environmental regulations by 50% for effluent discharge within sensitive aquatic environments along the Alaskan coastline.

The announcement continues Royal Caribbean’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations, and is in support of the company’s Save The Waves corporate waste management policy. The new CleanSea systems are in addition to two Hydroxyl wastewater systems already in operation in Royal Caribbean’s fleet onboard the Enchantment of the Seas and the Vision of the Seas cruise vessels.
