Kingdom of Bahrain Ministry of Electricity and Water Adopts MWH Soft Advanced Geospatial Technology

Dec. 22, 2005

MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, announced that the Ministry of Electricity and Water in the Kingdom of Bahrain (MEW) has elected to deploy multiple licenses of InfoWater Suite, the industry's premier ArcGIS-centric (ESRI, Redlands, Calif.) infrastructure modeling, management and optimization software. The selection is the latest example of the global move toward MWH Soft's advanced geospatial infrastructure modeling and management solutions.

MEW plans to harness the power of InfoWater Suite to support the establishment of a more advanced, complete information system designed to facilitate daily operations in the ministry. InfoWater's deployment is a key part of a two-year enterprise Geographic Information Systems project awarded to Khatib & Alami (K&A), MWH Soft's certified representative in the Middle East and a leading utility solutions provider. K&A will deploy ESRI and MWH Soft's advanced geospatial technologies to deliver a single geodatabase that will embed all MEW's water and power network assets information. This will enable timely and accurate capture, documentation and sharing of information for better decision making, improved operations and enhanced customer service.

"We are thrilled to work with proven global technology leader MWH Soft to deliver state-of-the-art hydraulic modeling and optimization solutions that help utilities maximize their return on investment," said Faisal Alami, GIS Services Division director at Khatib & Alami. "This project will unify all spatial and land data for the entire Kingdom. Most importantly, the information system that emerges will increase the efficiency of the ministry's customer service. Having a seamless environment that simulates the real world of both the water and electric utilities will greatly enhance MEW's ability to meet competitive challenges and achieve key performance indicators established by key stakeholders."

"InfoWater combines the powerful features of ArcGIS with the most comprehensive and advanced network analysis and reporting capabilities available. Its seamless ArcGIS integration, cutting-edge functionality, ease of use and friendly interface allow users to quickly streamline and automate their infrastructure management activities; make informed decisions; and collaborate more effectively," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, president and COO of MWH Soft. "We are proud to team with K&A in helping MEW meet its corporate strategic goals and forge closer ties with its customers."
