The Transmittance Monitor from Aquionics has been identified by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) as one of newest and most innovative products for the water industry and will be featured at the New Technology Showcase during the 2005 Annual Conference and Exposition. The Transmittance Monitor, which ensures accurate dosing in UV disinfection systems, can be seen at the conference June 12–16, 2005 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.
To make it easier for attendees to sort through the products of more than 500 exhibiting companies, the organizers have chosen a select group of the newest products for inclusion in this exclusive exhibit area. Representatives of Aquionics will be available in New Product Technology Showcase area to explain how the Transmittance Monitor provides more consistent and cost-effective disinfection. Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for the most useful new product in the showcase.
"We have used the Transmittance Monitors in a number of municipal installations recently, and can rely on the integrity of the readings," commented Jon McClean, President of Aquionics. "It is gratifying to have its utility recognized by the AWWA."
Changes in feed water UV transmittance can affect UV dose and reduce the effectiveness of microbial disinfection in drinking and waste water. The patented Transmittance Monitor eliminates this process variable by continuously measuring water transmittance, enabling the intensity of UV emitted by the lamps in the disinfection chambers to be increased or decreased in response to changes in water quality. Feed water is then irradiated with the optimum UV dose for maximum disinfection.
