NSF International Awarded Certificate of Appreciation

June 6, 2005

NSF International received a certificate of appreciation from Washtenaw County and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), for its dedicated service to public safety. NSF representatives on the committee include Bruce DeMaine, director of corporate QA & safety for NSF, who serves as vice chair on the LEPC and Theresa Uscinowicz, senior QA & safety specialist for NSF.

"NSF International has played a key role in supporting hazardous materials emergency planning to help protect the health and safety of the entire community," said Dan Onyskin, chair of the Washtenaw County LEPC. "Through their active participation on the committee to allowing committee meetings to take place at their world headquarters in Ann Arbor on Dixboro Road, NSF has demonstrated the type of business involvement that makes the LEPC work."

The LEPC committee was formed in the 1980’s to help ensure industries that use, produce or store extremely hazardous substances are prepared for emergencies.

"Although we conduct business in more than 80 countries, we understand and are committed to the role corporations play in local efforts as well," DeMaine said. "Most importantly, this award exemplifies NSF’s dedication to the local community here in Ann Arbor and supports our overall public health and safety mission."
