EPA TAKES THE MID-AMERICA TANNING COMPANY SITE OFF THE SUPERFUND LIST
EPA has deleted the Mid-America Tanning Company Superfund site in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa from the National Priorities List. The National Priorities List is comprised of hazardous waste sites in the country.
EPA and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources have determined that the remedial actions conducted at the site have resulted in the protection of human health and the environment. This means that no further cleanup is needed. However, this deletion does not preclude future actions under Superfund, if necessary.
The July 26, 2004 Federal Register, which announced the deletion, provides background information on the deletion. The Federal Register announcing this deletion is available for public review at www.epa.gov/fedrgstr.
