EPA and Anacostia Watershed Society to Kick-Off Rice Rangers' Program June 10

June 9, 2004

The Anacostia (Md.) Watershed Society, sponsored in part by the Office of Water and the Office of Environmental Education, has developed a training program, "Rice Rangers," for schools in the Anacostia area.

EPA Acting Assistant Administrator Benjamin Grumbles will help kick off the Rice Rangers at the event at 10 a.m. on June 10.

The Rice Ranger Program trains teachers on how to teach students about watershed health and the role of the Anacostia River and its associated wetlands in the watershed. The program provides "hands-on" learning to engage students and teachers in restoration work.
