Buda, Texas to Expand Wastewater Plant

March 23, 2004

The Buda (Texas) City Council recently approved its largest capital expenditure of the year authorizing an engineering firm to go ahead with the final phase of design and expansion of their wastewater treatment plant.

The expansion, at a cost of $6.3 million, would increase the plant's capacity to 950,000 gallons per day from 600,000 per day.

The plant presently processes less than a half-million gallons per day, but projections indicate the city will need to process 1.5 million gallons per day by 2011.

The engineering firm of Turner, Collie & Braden, will replace an eight-inch effluent pipeline with a 20-inch line. In addition, the improvement will upgrade the quality of effluent to Type I.
