National Nonpoint Source Conference Held in Texas

Feb. 11, 2004

EPA and the Association of State and Interstate Water Pollution Control Administrators (ASIWPCA) convened a successful and energizing conference for state and EPA nonpoint source (NPS) program managers last week in Austin, Texas.

"Implementation at the Watershed Level" included a series of sessions that focused on each of the significant components of watershed plan development and implementation.

Participants discussed new assessment tools (e.g., remote sensing), greatly enhanced modeling tools, new (agriculture) and improved (urban) databases on best management practices effectiveness; creative new funding mechanisms at the federal, state, and local levels; and new multimedia and other outreach tools and programs.

Copies of the presentations are posted on ASIWPCA’s web site at www.asiwpca.org/events/other.htm.
