Wastewater Treatment Process Decreases Solids Discharge, Reduces Costs

Dec. 12, 2003

John Sheridan of USFilter Envirex Products will present a technical paper on "Complete Destruction of Biological Solids Reduces Both Operating and Capital Cost" at the 2004 New England Water Environment Association's Annual Conference.

The conference will be held at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel in Boston, Mass., from January 25 — 28.

The paper addresses how municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants using the Cannibal™ solids reduction process have reduced or eliminated the need to waste biological solids. One municipal plant, in operation for more than four years, has yet to waste any biological solids. The paper also analyzes lifecycle cost savings for several different size plants.

The Cannibal process offers many significant cost savings, including reduced biosolids handling and dewatering costs, power savings, polymer cost reduction, decreased or eliminated wet biosolids hauling costs and a reduced footprint and concrete for new treatment processes. This biosolids reduction process can easily be incorporated into new facilities as well as into existing plants.

Sheridan will present his paper at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, as part of Session 5, Residuals Management.
