Geysers Wastewater Project to Open Today

Dec. 3, 2003

More than 100 officials are expected to attend a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony in Santa Rosa, Calif., for the $200 million Geysers wastewater disposal project.

The 40-mile pipeline between the Laguna Wastewater Treatment Plant south of Santa Rosa and The Geysers north east of Healdsburg makes its debut today. It will carry 11 million gallons a day of treated wastewater from Santa Rosa, Cotati, Rohnert Park and Sebastopol.

The water will be injected underground to produce steam to generate electricity.
