The City of Wilmington, Del. has employed Hatch Mott MacDonald to develop a program to test 10,000 valves in its distribution system in order to verify their condition and to integrate the information into the cityis IMS.
As part of the project, HMM will develop specifications to repair valves found to be nonfunctional. HMM also will provide construction-related service during the repair process. The first phase of work includes testing approximately one-third of the valves.
The City of Wilmington's Water System consists of two filter plants with a design capacity of 56 MGD; two ground level storage tanks with a capacity of 7.5 and 6.0 MG; one open finished water reservoir at 40 MG; six elevated storage tanks, two standpipes, eight pumping stations and 334 miles of transmission and distribution piping ranging in size from 4-48 in.
