Cytec Names Fleming President of Specialty Chemicals Organization

Effective immediately, Shane D. Fleming is the President of Cytec Specialty Chemicals.

Reporting to David Lilley, Cytec's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Fleming will have responsibility for leading the growth of Cytec's specialty chemicals business and driving profit improvement initiatives within the business.

Upon the appointment of Fleming, David Lilley commented, "The positive momentum that has been building in the Specialty Chemicals business is demonstrated in the results achieved in 2002. Under Shane's leadership, I am confident the Specialty Chemicals business will continue to build on its strengths of satisfying its customers through superior products, technology and service."

Fleming, 44, is an engineering graduate of the University of Utah where he majored in fuels engineering. He joined Cytec in 1983 and initially held a series of progressively more responsible technical and sales management positions in the Mining Chemicals business.

Fleming has significant international experience having been named General Manager, Cytec Australia in 1994 and then in 1998 was promoted to the position of Vice President, Asia Pacific, located in Singapore. His general management role continued to expand in 2000 when he assumed responsibility for the Phosphine Chemicals business and again in April, 2002 when Mining Chemicals was added to his duties following the reorganization of Specialty Chemicals.
