NSF International has announced certification of Aquionics, Inc.'s Photon Medium Pressure Disinfection Ultraviolet (UV) Light Generators. Aquionics' generators are the first UV light generators certified under NSF/ANSI Standard 50: Circulation System Components and Related Materials for Swimming Pools, Spas/Hot Tubs.
"I would like to congratulate Aquionics for attaining the first NSF Certification of a UV system to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 and setting a precedent for the water treatment industry," said Dave Purkiss, general manager, Water Distribution Systems. "This certification demonstrates that Aquionics' PMD UV Light Generators have been tested to stringent requirements and the production process independently audited. This provides pool operators with a new option when they draft specifications for UV treatment equipment."
The NSF Pool and Spa Equipment Certification Program conducts material reviews, product testing and production facility audits to ensure that Aquionics' PMD UV Light Generators meet all NSF/ANSI 50 requirements. This evaluation also includes material health effects testing, performance verification and sets labeling criteria. NSF conducts ongoing monitoring to ensure continued compliance to NSF/ANSI 50.
"Aquionics is very pleased to have received this certification," said Michael Sutsko, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Aquionics.
