Ho-Chunk Expands Into Bottled Water Business

March 26, 2003

The Ho-Chunk Nation in Wisconsin is diversifying into the bottled water business.

The Ho-Chunk Nation announced this week that it is introducing its own brand of bottled water, Ni Sini — "cold water" in the Ho-Chunk language.

The nation, in partnership with Reinhart Food Service of La Crosse, will provide its new private-label spring water to troops training at Fort McCoy. The first order — 1,512 cases, a full semi load — is now being bottled. The nation hopes to land additional military and government contracts for its water.

Initially, the nation also will distribute Ni Sini bottled water through its own convenience stores, lodging and gambling operations — as well as its new six-screen movie theater currently under construction in Tomah, Wisc.
